Reunion Ideas Needed

by Barb
(Ohio)

This is my second year holding a family reunion and would love any ideas that would help make it different from last year's. Any ideas for games or other activities would be greatly appreciated as well as any other ideas or suggestions as to how others hold their reunions.

Our Reunion Plans For This Year
by: Rhonda

My family has taken a 5 year hiatus from our reunion but we're starting back this year!! We are doing a multi-day family reunion at a campground in Florida (also has hotel rooms for "non-campers"). We are having a fish fry on Friday night and on Saturday we are starting the day with a trip down the river and later in the afternoon, we are having a horse shoe tournament for the adults. The afternoon activities for the children include tie-dying t-shirts, a family scavenger hunt and a big waterslide. On Saturday, we are cooking hamburgers and hotdogs and barbeque on the grill and also having a low country boil. Sunday's activites include a morning devotion and a covered dish luncheon. We help defray the cost of our reunion by having an auction, 50/50 raffle and a raffle. This year, we are also selling t-shirts and koozies.

Limitless Options
by: Lydia

There are probably as many family reunion ideas and agendas as there are families and reunions! It's difficult to give hard, fast recommendations without knowing the details of your family dynamics. Have you surveyed your family? If not, that would be a great way to find out A) what they liked from last year and if they want to do that specific thing again and B) what ideas they have for fun games and activities. The more input, feedback and involvement you can get from individual family members, the more invested everyone will be in the reunion. This year my family is going to be trying something VERY new - a multi-day, intellectual treasure hunt. I'll let you know how it goes!
