Is it okay to have a donation jar at a family reunion to offset cost of building, postage, paper products, etc.?

definitely! for several years my parents paid the lions share tho others contributed via a donation container. When they finally admitted they couldn't do it anymore, it seems others attending conveniently forgot the financial end as well. Some still do, but not like in the first 2-3 years. So YES continue to put out a donation container. Even small amounts help.

I have learned that most families want nice reunions, but don't want to contribute....so, having a money jar at the reunion will help out the ones that did most of the planning and buying for the reunion. A nice reunion costs money and a lot of money...when only one or two people are trying to plan....money gets low!!!! Once the reunion is planned, people attend...they forget about what it took to have a successful reunion and money is the main thing needed to have a nice reunion.
