Family Bonding Activities...
projects personalized for your family reunion!

I'm so excited about these projects! They create unique family bonding activities personalized to YOUR family. How cool is that?!?

These are the kinds of things that truly add meaning to your family reunion and make memories for life.

They're perfect for the family reunion but these projects will enrich any family gathering. They can bring your family history to life.

Their influence will last WAY beyond the reunion itself. And, to me, that’s what it's really about – making family connections while bridging the gap between generations past and future.

Create Games

Are there any better family bonding activities than games?? These games are customized with family photos and you can create them yourself.

Family Trivia Board Game

family bonding activities

Playing this family trivia game is one of my favorite family bonding activities.

The playing "board" is a framed poster. I made the trivia cards by personalizing a deck of playing cards. And the instructions and answers to all the trivia questions are printed inside a 5x5 book. There are 5 questions on each card - some of the specifically catered to the individual and some of them more general in nature. (Let me know if you want a copy of the questions I used!)

Since we started playing this trivia game as a family, one son has learned that he shares the same birthday as a great grandfather and the other has decided that playing the piano (like his great grandmother did) isn't so bad.

Bingo

How about a family game of bingo? It's perfect for kids, adults and in between. Great for neighborhood get-togethers, birthday parties, and, yes, of course, family reunions!

It's played just like regular Bingo except you get to enjoy cards that have been customized with the family photos of your choosing. You could use current photos, baby photos of all your family members or family history photos.

bingoThese bingo boards (12x12 papers) and calling cards (a deck of playing cards) are both based on templates. Simply replace the existing pictures by dragging and dropping your own in their place.

Customize Card Games

Did you know that you can personalize your own deck of playing cards?? To make any card game you want?? I LOVE these games and family bonding activities!

"Crazy Cousins"

This "Crazy Cousin" card game template has 54 cards, 2 of 27 different designs, so it's set up to play like Memory or Concentration. The back of each card (left) is the same throughout the deck. But the front of each individual card (right) can be completely customized.

Regular Playing Cards

These are just a few of the fun templates available for customizing your own family playing cards. Think about it - how fun would it be to have the family joker's face actually on the joker card??

Make a Family Tree Poster

Not only do these family tree posters make great displays at the reunion, they also make great reunion gifts and souvenirs.

heritage makersThis template is for a 18x24 portrait poster. It's a great way to visually distinguish between various branches of the family tree. Add pictures and/or names to the tree ornaments. You're also able to simply add or delete branches and names, as needed.

heritage makersThis template is for a 18x24 landscape poster. Display it at the family reunion to show your family lineage and then frame it and hang it in your home when the reunion is over.

Display Your Family Reunion Picture

When you're looking for family bonding activities, don't forget the power of displaying photos in your home. They'll spark conversation and stir up memories.

I love these! A large canvas is the perfect way to display your favorite family reunion group photo. Each of these measure 20x20.

{SIDE NOTE: Love these particular canvases?? I can make one for you or teach you how to make your own! Ask me how.}

Create Storybooks

Use the family reunion as a reason to create heirloom quality storybooks. Do your kids know their grandparents? Don't you want them to know your parents??

Storybooks can bridge the generation gap!! They are the heart of Heritage Makers projects and make wonderful heirloom-quality gifts.

This storybook caused my children to ask -
"Grandma Great used to be a little girl?"

heritage makers

Here's a storybook about the cousins. It contains simple facts about each child and is a wonderful way for my kids to remember fun times they've had with their cousins.

This "Roots" book shows my ancestry three generations back. It has brief bios about me, my parents, grandparents and great grandparents. I love it! My parents and kids love it, too. It's one of my favorite projects of all time and one of the main drives for creating Heritage Makers projects to begin with.

This 11.5x8.5 storybook template contains 21 pages and includes several quotes, places for 82 pictures and plenty of journaling space.

Make Home Decor

Looking for a unique item for the family reunion auction? What about these vintage-looking photo blocks made with photos of your ancestors?

family bonding activities

I made these wooden decor blocks by cutting two 12x12 page prints (based on a template, of course) into pieces and then gluing them onto pieces of a leftover 2x4 board from the garage.

Everyone who sees these loves them! And I've given several sets away as gifts to family members - they're easy, unique, personal AND - added bonus, here - very inexpensive.

Make Your Own Family Bonding Activites

I have made all these projects with a personal publishing company called Heritage Makers. And you could do the same!

And here's the cool thing - The projects you've seen here are just the tip of the ice berg. There are so many other fun family bonding activities you can create and customize with your own photos through Heritage Makers.

For example, you could -

  • make your own cookbook

  • put together a family directory

  • create a brag book of all the grandchildren

  • assemble all of your favorite pictures from the past year into a family yearbook

If you are interested in learning more or if I can teach you or help you create your own personalized projects, please fill out the form below.

Ralph Waldo Emerson said,

"Every man is a quotation from all his ancestors."

Knowing where you came from - knowing your family history - is key to knowing who you are. That makes these kinds of family bonding activities and projects truly priceless.
