Daniel Family Fun

by Gail Flowe Honeycutt
(Charlotte, NC)

Our Daniel family enjoyed almost 30 consecutive years of reunions until recently. With all the original siblings having passed away, we are now skipping a few years in between. We have also had "Cousins Reunions" which were great fun and included only 1st cousins. One funny thing we have done was to divide the group into teams and send them on a video scavenger hunt. This was hysterical.

But one of the best things we have done is to have a family auction. Our family is blessed with natural talent so of course, the item had to be something hand made by a Daniel. One year a handmade quilt brought over $400! The money we raised was used to place flowers on Daniel tombstones and we actually purchased a tombstone for our ggrandmother who's grave for some reason had never been marked.

This year we are only auctioning family heirlooms and this way the heirlooms get to be passed around from one person to another.

Auctions are entertainment, too.

Thanks for sharing your story! I've had a few comments lately about auctions. They sound like a great option for entertainment, as well as raising funds.
